Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary

Sydney Film Festival is honoured to present the Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Best Australian Documentary. The award is generously supported by Documentary Australia Foundation with a $10,000 cash prize acknowledging excellence in documentary production. Up to 10 films of any length are selected for the competition, and the jury awards the cash prize at SFF’s Closing Night ceremony on Sunday 18 June.

The 2017 Documentary Australia Foundation Award for Australian Documentary was awarded to director Sascha Ettinger Epstein and producer Claire Haywood for their documentary The Pink House, about the last brothel in old mining town Kalgoorlie.

Previous winners include In the Shadow of the Hill (2016), Only the Dead (2015), 35 Letters (2014), Buckskin (2013), Killing Anna (2012), Life in Movement (2011), The Snowman (2010), A Good Man (2009) and Contact (2009).
