Kini S. Kim was formerly EVP, Head of International at CJ Entertainment, one of the biggest studios in Asia. For more than 20 years at CJ, he had internationally introduced and distributed most notable Korean films including Bong Joon-ho’s SNOWPIERCER, MOTHER, MEMORIES OF MURDER, Park Chan-wook ‘s HANDMAIDEN, THIRST, SYMPATHY FOR LADY VENGEANCE, Lee Chang-dong’s SECRET SUNSHINE, Kim Jee-woon’s A BITTERSWEET LIFE, THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRED to name a few, which were critically acclaimed at prestigious international film festivals.
Since 2010, he had been involved in local production and regional direct distribution in the countries: Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and the US. He had produced more than 10 films in these countries such as Phan Xine Linh’s EM LA BA NOI CUA ANH (Sweet 20), still the highest grossing local film in Vietnam and Joko Anwar’s A COPY OF MY MIND in Indonesia as well as Takashi Miike’s BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL in Japan.
He currently lectures at Soongsil University in Seoul.
