Jane Campion is a New Zealand-born filmmaker and screenwriter whose extraordinary body of work has garnered her decades of critical acclaim and an indisputable place in cinema history. Her unique ability to portray complex female characters has established her as one of the most significant voices in contemporary cinema. After graduating from the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Campion made her TV–feature debut with Two Friends and went on to direct Sweetie, which premiered at Cannes in 1989. In 1993 she gained widespread recognition with her Palme d’Or and Academy Award (Best Original Screenplay) winner The Piano. In 2022 Campion won the Best Director Oscar for The Power of the Dog after winning the Silver Lion at Venice.
