More Than Strangers
When a Parisian father-to-be (Cyril Gueï) accepts a freelance job driving four people of different nationalities home from Berlin in an electric vehicle, trouble ensues when one passenger (Léo Daudin) reveals he is a refugee. Transporting refugees across borders is harshly penalized in the EU, and the group faces some uncomfortable choices. Each of the passengers has their own problems to deal with, too. Featuring a great ensemble cast, sharp editing and cinematography, French director Sylvie Michel’s modern road movie is both a comic character study and a stinging critique of the marginalization of refugees.
