Elliott (Stella) lives on an idyllic rural cranberry farm with her loving family. Her parents want to spend as much time with her as possible before she leaves for college. But Elliott is more eager to hang around with her friends – and to have sex with the girl she’s long had a crush on. While on a very effective psychedelic mushroom trip, Elliott meets a woman (Plaza) who matter-of-factly says that she’s Elliott’s future self, then provides evidence and offers some very strong behaviour-related advice. As present Elliott struggles to follow future Elliott’s advice (especially when it comes to matters of the heart), each comes to learn something from the other. A lightness of touch and winning performances make this a delightful take on the perils and pleasures of first love.
