Sugarcane
When unmarked graves are discovered near the grounds of a former residential school for Indigenous children near British Columbia’s Sugarcane Reserve, the Williams Lake First Nation community launches an investigation to expose this devastating history. For the remaining survivors, the torture and abuse that took place at St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School continues to reverberate in psychologically and emotionally devastating ways. This haunting documentary follows the community’s search to uncover the truth and demand accountability from the highest levels of the Catholic Church.
