The annual Ian McPherson Lecture is presented each year to celebrate the contribution of the man who helped establish the Sydney Film Festival and acknowledge those who have made a significant contribution.
Following the screening of the 4K restoration of Rabbit Proof Fence, director and producer Phillip Noyce, winner of SFF’s inaugural 1974 Rouben Mamoulian Award with Castor and Pollux, will discuss his illustrious career with filmmaker Muralikrishna Thalluri.

Phillip Noyce
Director
Phillip Noyce is a renowned Australian film and television director. An AFTRS alumnus in 1973, his debut feature Backroads premiered at Sydney Film Festival in 1977. Alongside his local filmography, Noyce has also directed international hits, including Dead Calm (1988), Clear And Present Danger (1994), and Salt (2010).
Muralikrishna Thalluri
Presenter
Muralikrishna Thalluri is an Australian director, writer and producer. At age 19, he directed his debut feature 2:37 (2006), which earned him selections at Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and Tokyo Film Festival. He is currently in the works of his upcoming feature, Twenty Light Years Away.
