Synopsis
Based on the novella from William S. Burroughs, Queer follows Lee (Craig), an American ex-pat in his late forties, leading a solitary life of indulgence; a cad about town, who’s also deeply lonely.
The arrival of Eugene (Drew Starkey) sparks an obsession for Lee, alongside his current one for new and illicit substances, and sets them on a journey to the Amazon to find new telepathic drugs and experiences, opening doors that some would prefer remained closed.
A vulnerable and captivating performance by Craig, supported by the excellent Starkey and charming Jason Schwartzman, this bold and lush period piece is set afire with anachronistic music choices, and surreal turns saturated with lust, sweat and hallucinogenic haze.
