Touch
Widower Kristofer (Egill Ólafsson) sets off from Iceland on a seemingly impossible mission. Decades earlier, the young Kristofer (Pálmi Kormákur) meets his first love, Miko (Kōki), in London. A student of economics, he decides – as part-commitment to the working class, part-whim, part-dare – to give up his studies and work in a Japanese restaurant. And it’s there he meets Miko, the owner’s daughter, and romance blossoms. Then she disappears without trace. All these decades later, with limited time left, Kristofer ends up in COVID-affected London and tries to track her down, eventually leading him to Japan and an astonishing discovery. Based on the bestseller by Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson and directed by Iceland’s multi-award-winning director Kormákur (Jar City, SFF 2008; 101 Reykjavik, SFF 2001), Touch is a deeply moving, delicate and spellbinding romance.
